HAIKUS ON A PLUM TREE

In a multimedia travel log, filmmaker Mujah Maraini-Melehi explores the collective memory of her Italian family’s imprisonment in a Japanese war camp during WWII and its repercussions. With the help of her 101-year-old grandmother Topazia Alliata’s testimony and her aunt Dacia Maraini’s accounts, she works toward convincing her mother Toni Maraini to go beyond her memories and take her first journey back to Japan since 1946.
