25 May 1928. Umberto Nobile and his crew, aboard the airship ITALIA, reach the North Pole. The mission, strongly desired by Mussolini to affirm Italian aeronautical authority in the world, is successful. But on the way back a sudden storm causes the airship to crash. The crash of the ship is terrible. There are deaths and injuries. Freed from its weights, the balloon rises into the air and drags six crew members with it, who disappear into the immensity of the ice. Nobile and the men who survived the catastrophe are forced to fight for their lives for 48 days on the pack in extreme conditions. An epic tale of survival.
